Pastelillos de Guayaba | Vegan Guava Pastry Puffs | Puerto Rican

Servings: 9-12 depending on the size you cut your squares.

These guava pastry puffs are little in size, but giant in flavor. Guava & cream cheese go together like peanut butter and jelly. The outside crunch of the super flaky layers of pastry is just the beginning of this delectable dessert. Once you bite into the guava & cream cheese you will experience ecstasy & wonder why you have not tried this flavor combo before… that is if you are not Puerto Rican or Cuban because it is a common flavor combo in these Latin communities. These guava & cream cheese pastries are vegan and so easy to make that you can impress your guests without much work. Amazing flavor bombs.. you have to try them! Pastelillos de Guayaba | Vegan Guava Pastry Puffs | Puerto Rican
INGREDIENTS
 1 Box Vegan PUFF PASTRY
 4 oz Vegan CREAM CHEESE (make your own, but we used Miyoko's)
 ⅓ Package of GUAVA PASTE
 3 tbsp SOY MILK to brush tops
DIRECTIONS

Thaw out frozen VEGAN puff pastry.

Preheat the oven to 350F.

Now cut the pastry into an even number of same-sized squares.

Place 1/2 of the squares on parchment paper on a baking tray.

Fill center with a spoon of cream cheese.

Lay 2 guava strips on top of the cream cheese.

Cut the tops of the puff pastry with 3 slits before you put them on.

Now place a top on each pastry

Press down & seal the edges with a fork to bind them together.

Brush with plant-based milk for a nice golden final appearance.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden browned.

Take them out of the oven & sprinkle them with powdered sugar for a beautiful look.

Now try to eat only one. Yeah right! SO GOOD!
