Do you wish you could sleep better? Do you wish you could sleep deeper? Do you need more sleep? Less sleep? Do you toss around in your sleep Or have dreams that leave you feeling tired? Do you fall asleep easily but wake up too early or does it take you hours to fall asleep?
Homeopaths are very interested in the quality of their patient’s sleep. Therefore we ask many questions having to do with sleep. Such as what position do you sleep in and if waking in the middle of the night is common is there a recurring time? Also are there any reoccurring dreams? Are there problems with falling asleep rather than waking up in the middle of the night? All of these answers are important to help find a homeopathic remedy to put the sleep back into natural rhythm and balance. Another big key to finding the right remedy is to discover what happened to cause this sleep disturbance… Was there a specific event or stress and if so this is very important for the homeopath to know?
Having good sleep is one of the keys to good health and having issues with sleep becomes is a stress on the body. We take sleep for granted until the day we begin to lose it. For some people, they have had problems sleeping well from the time they were very young and for others that have slept like a log all of their life. So whether you have had problems sleeping for many years or just due to a recent stressor you will be able to benefit from my suggestions in this article. Homeopathy can work very well in reversing chronic sleep problems. The best remedy is going to be one that is specific to your story and addresses the cause behind your sleeping problems. This is usually done by making an appointment with a homeopath. However, if you have some temporary sleep issues or are just going through periods of stress and need some help there are some acute remedies that may help
My most recommended natural sleep remedy suggestion is a Gemmotherapy remedy called Tilia Tormentosa, also known as Lime Tree. This Gemmo has helped many people in my practice. It has a strong affinity for calming the nervous system down so it’s not only good for sleep but it’s very good for anxiety. When taking this remedy for sleep you would take 20 to 30 Drops in water before bed and you can even keep a little glass with more drops in it beside your bed in case you wake up and can’t go back to sleep. Although this remedy is not specific to making people fall asleep when you calm the nervous system down it usually helps people relax & fall asleep. It’s a simple solution so be sure to give it a try
If that’s not enough then you can add my second favorite sleeping aid and that’s the herbal tincture called passionflower. Passionflower is the most beautiful flower ever you’ll have to look it up on the Internet it’s hard to imagine that this flower that’s so vibrant and beautiful puts people to sleep but it really does. Taking this tincture along with Tilea Tormentosa is a natural, but powerful prescription for sleep, which allows many people to let go of their suppressive and dangerous drugs that interfere with many of the brain’s natural functions.
The famous chamomile tea is so well known for helping millions relax. Also, you can take a powdered form of magnesium which is also a relaxing drink that can induce an easier sleep. You could even warm up some cashew milk and add a little pinch of turmeric and cinnamon or any of your favorite herbs to help prepare you for sleep.
The homeopathic remedy made from coffee, which is called Coffea Cruda, is a well-known remedy to aid people in falling asleep when their mind is so busy from their day full of stress and thinking. Sound familiar? In today’s world, many people live on coffee because the demands of work and life don’t allow them to sleep enough or have any relaxing time, so they have to push themselves to work and stay awake. This leads to adrenal burn out and can often lead to sleep problems from the overdosing of caffeine. However, a few pellets of coffee under their tongue or in water could really help!
One of my favorite natural remedies is to sit in a nice hot bath with dead sea salts and some essential oils like lavender, geranium, and rosemary, along with some calcium been tonight clay to pull out the toxins aid the whole experience. I almost always sleep well after a nice bath like that. And as soon as I get out of my bath I take my Tilia and usually I’m sleeping within 10 minutes. Give it a try and let me know if it works for you!
So whether you have lifelong chronic sleep issues or just occasional days where you’ve missed sleep for too long, give these remedies a try and see if they can help you too!
With Gratitude,
Vidal
