It has been such a challenging year for so many. Especially for the USA in comparison to other countries. Granted we handled the virus totally irresponsibly and still have no real universal plan to keep it in check, which shows by the numbers that are skyrocketing every week. We are first place in all the wrong stats having to do with the pandemic, but our misery doesn’t end here. We also have had floods, once in life-time hurricanes, tornados, and now the most deadly fires ever. We are only 2 weeks into a 4 month long fire season and Oregon, California, and Washington are all on fire at a rate never seen before and losing more lives and more structures than before. Meanwhile, climate deniers still argue there is no global climate crisis and I wonder how they can still say this. It infuriates me. I feel angry and finally now after breathing all the toxic air in LA for a week and not being able to go outside to hike or to even work to make a living I feel really angry! It is so hard when you are trying to do your part and live with a small footprint in order to save the planet and then whatever efforts you do get drowned in the destruction of those that don’t care.
So I can sit back and do nothing and just be infuriated because that is so unproductive and I want to see change and I want to be part of that change. Therefore, I decided to come up with a list of things we all can focus on during this difficult year of 2020 that just keeps on bringing more difficult times. I put together 11 actions you can take right now to make a difference. I made a podcast on it which you can listen to here.
The bottom line is we just have to stay optimistic because we can’t give up. It is always better to act than to be angry and do nothing. 2020 will go down in history as a year with huge shifts and changes in the human race and the health or destruction of our planet. I won’t give up trying to help those realize that we all need to do our part. The easiest yet biggest effect on climate crisis action we can take is to eat vegan or plant-based This one is easy since eating and cooking vegan foods can be so delicious. But I list lots of other actions we all can take now to help support one another thru this devastating year of 2020.
Hang in there, and let’s all take action together and make one big step forward. I need you guys right now because this week has been a tough one to stay hopeful and positive. The toxins in the air have affected our brains so much in LA I think the entire city is depressed.
I love you guys.
With Gratitude,
Vidal.
